A Tattoo for Your Hair? It’s Less Crazy Than You Think, Thanks to This New Trend

Forget ombre hair extensions, undercuts and pastel hair colors — because the hair tattoo is quickly becoming this season’s hottest hair trend, thanks in no small part to Kylie Jenner herself.

According to Paper Magazine, these temporary hair tattoos, made by Scünci, offer a shiny, eye-catching embellishment for your locks. To wear one, all you need to do is get the tattoo wet with a damp cotton ball, apply it to your hair and pull the paper backing off — and you’ve got a Coachella-ready look that works at any time of the year, no hairstylist needed.

Jenner, who now rocks a black bob, told Us Magazine she turned to hair tattoos as a result of her “addiction” to changing her hairstyle.

“I first dyed my hair when I was 16,” she said. “I dyed it blue and I never even asked my mom. After that, I’ve just had this addiction to changing my hair.”

But are these temporary tattoos actually good for your hair?

The Stir reports that hair tattoos are safe for both children and adults, and for only about $5 a package, they’re not too expensive. The designs can also be applied to your skin, if you’d prefer that. To remove the tattoos, Refinery29 suggests gently scrubbing them away with shampoo or soap.

The only downside to hair tattoos? They only work on straight hair — so if you have naturally curly hair, you’re probably out of luck.
