EMBARGOED UNTIL 00:01 FRIDAY 22 MARCH

Today (Friday 22 March 2013) marks the 100 day countdown to Armed Forces Day 2013 – a chance for the nation to show their support for the Armed Forces for their outstanding contribution to the country. A national event will be held on Saturday 29 June in Nottingham and will provide a focus for the country’s celebrations, alongside hundreds of local events held up and down the UK.

On operations at home and overseas, the men and women of the Armed Forces work to protect the security, independence and interests of our country 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Armed Forces Day is a chance to say thank you to them and to the whole Armed Forces community – including Reservists, veterans, cadets and Service families.
